Berkshire Partners
Leveraging the web to deliver a compelling corporate message to the world, and to foster a strong community among partners and portfolio company executives.
Berkshire Partners' corporate website presents the firm to the public; a password-protected Executive Forum supports collaboration among partners and portfolio company executives.
Berkshire Partners is an established private equity investment firm in Boston. Filament Group first met up with Berkshire when they decided to migrate their print corporate capabilities brochure onto the web. Filament helped Berkshire translate the brochure's distinctive visual style for an online environment, and then built the HTML templates, and tested and deployed the site.
Following the launch of the website, we worked with Berkshire and the firm's graphic designer, Judy Kohn, to update site content and images, and in the process talked with them about opportunities to use web technologies to help support internal audiences, including partners, employees, and the many executives and friends of Berkshire who have worked at portfolio companies over the years. Gradually, the idea of developing something online specifically to foster communication among portfolio company executives, in the form of the Berkshire Executive Forum, began to take shape.
Filament Group also worked with Berkshire to structure a community site where executives can share insights, resources, and readings, as well as tap one another's expertise and discuss contemporary business issues. Berkshire Partners also uses the Executive Forum to disseminate resources from its frequent conferences and meetings. To keep the dynamic data-driven site current, Filament Group developed an easy-to-use administration tool that lets Berkshire employees add content, update company profiles and manage discussions.
